Just Push Play

The Soundtrack To My Life: Katy Perry

Posted on: April 11, 2011

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting throught the wind?
Wanting to start again? Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin?
Like a house of cards? One blow from caving in? Do you ever feel already buried deep? Six feet under scream but no one seems to hear a thing?

Okay, in all seriousness we all have those days, weeks, months where we feel like there’s something missing from our lives or where something just isn’t right. We all get the urge to just make some changes in our lives, but it doesn’t always happen that fast. Usually there’s that point in time “like a lightening bolt, your heart will blow and when it’s time you’ll know” (continue singing “Firework”…you get the idea). Whether its a career change, a change of location, or a change in a relationship, sometimes we just need that change to make us realize our true potential, or as Katy Perry says in “Firework”:

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine, just own the night like the fourth of July, cause baby you’re a firework, come on show ’em what you’re worth, make ’em go “oh, oh, oh!” as you shoot across the sky”

We all need the time to take a step out of that situation that makes you feel stuck. Take the chance to figure out who you are and what makes you happy. Then take that and do something with it! Hey, if I didn’t you wouldn’t be reading this blog right now. If its a career change you need, experiment with what you love, what you’re good at and see where that takes you. If you feel stuck in that small town you live in, maybe its time to make a move. It doesn’t have to be forever. Change of scenery for a week, a month, or even a year, might be all you need to ger yourself back on track.

And sometimes we just need a break from certain relationships in our lives. Sometimes this break can be permanent, but sometimes it’s just a temporary thing. Sometimes all we need is that time to ourselves to discover our true potential. In the end it will make you a better person; a better person for yourself and a better person for the people in your life.

I truly believe the second you remove yourself from whatever is holding you back, is the second that positive changes happen in your life. Once you make those changes in your life that make you happy, you can live up to your true potential in your career, in your relationships, and really in any aspect of your life. And after this it can only get better from there. It’s something that’s “always been inside of you, and now it’s time to let it through”.

Even though I’m sure you’re all extremely familiar with this song, take a listen to Katy Perry’s “Firework”. It always puts me in a good mood:
